TOAD Founder and CEO, Mark Hooper, is the only person to ever graduate as the number one student in US Navy SEALs school then immediately enroll in the US Army’s most Elite Unit, the combat medics of 18 Delta, from which he also graduated first in class. He now applies the same work ethic, problem-solving skills, and keen attention to detail he learned as a SEAL to his role as Chief Executive Officer at TOAD.
Upon discharge with honors from the military after 10 years of active duty service, Mark shifted his focus to the telecommunications industry, where he worked on Cape Cod as an independent contractor for companies such as AT&T, Comcast, and Media One Cable Vision. He soon became a triple technician, specializing in cable TV (analog, digital, and high-definition), telephony, and internet networking and distribution. He continued to hone his skills by earning basic and advanced satellite-distribution licenses and working for DirecTV and Dish Network.
From where are you + how'd you get started?
I was born and raised in MA and started my technology career in 1990.
How'd you become a Toad?
Started the company as Frogman Communications after the Navy.
Something that no one would guess about you?
My favorite pet was a lamb named Jellybean.
Who's your hero + why?
My grandmother. She fed me like a king + could do 10 pull-ups at 60 years old!
Best thing that someone ever said to you?
A heartfelt letter of thanks from a star employee whom I mentored.
By what tools do you live + die?
Reciprocating saw.
From where are you + how'd you get started?
I grew up in North Smithfield, RI. I received a BSBA with a concentration in Information Technology from Bryant College in 3 years. I continued on after graduation to obtain an MBA from the same institution. I have over 20+ years experience in IT and my previous positions have been in corporate IT with responsibility for all IT functions for multiple locations.
How'd you become a Toad?
I met Mark by chance in late 2020 and started working with him in the summer of 2021.
Something no one would guess about you?
I own a small farm in South Eastern MA and have horses, a goat, chickens as well as cats and a dog.
Who's your hero + why?
My Dad. He is super smart and can fix just about anything mechanical.
By what tools do you live + die?
Baling twine and duct tape.
